The following essay debates the foundation of the Concretist movement in the 50s. Taking the Grupo Frente's point of view, it scrutinizes the nets of sociability which are built in Ivan Serpa's classes in the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro. It attempts to understand the way by which relationships of friendship and affinity are constructed when artists first begin to learn a carrier, creating collective interpretations of the modernity and the country: a Weltanschaung that is shown in the works of art, in the discourses about the artistic practices and in the identity's claims against other groups. Key-words : Concretism ; modernization ; Grupo Frente, Museum of Modern ArtEste trabalho discute a formação do núcleo do concretismo carioca na década de 50, a partir do Grupo Frente e das redes de sociabilidade construídas nos cursos de Ivan Serpa no Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio de Janeiro. Busca-se entender o papel do Museu nas artes plásticas, em meio à lógica modernizadora desse período, como instituição orientada para práticas artísticas de inovação. Da mesma forma, procura-se entender de que modo relações de amizade e afinidade se constroem no aprendizado do ofício do artista, criando modos coletivos de pensar a modernidade e o Brasil: visões de mundo que se expressam nas obras de arte, nos discursos sobre o fazer artístico e nas afirmações de identidade contra grupos rivais.
