This article deals with the experiment as a modifier of the observation object, with the risks inherent in any experiment, and with the alternatives to overcome the dilemma between the preservation of the object and the imperative of the experiment. It starts with a historical account and speculates upon the doubts its characters might have had about the experiment and the solutions they might have como up with.Este artigo trata da experiência como modificadora do objeto observado, dos riscos inerentes a toda investigação e das alternativas de superação do dilema entre a preservação do objeto e o imperativo do experimento. Parte de um relato histórico e especula sobre as dúvidas que seus personagens possam ter tido acerca da experiência e das soluções que possam ter aventado.
