This article presents three basic ideas in the prestigious educator' s thinking of the last century, Ercilia Pepín. The woman, the homeland, the school, constitute in the ideas of this teacher from Santiago, fundamental and inseparable pillar to achieve social progress. The woman and the school are called to be educated. The homeland, for its growth, development and continuity is based on the work that is forged from home and school. Women hall be cientifically educated to be taken into account as a dignified human being and as a citizen of a country that requires children who elevate them to the achievement of their purest civic, moral and social values. The woman and the school find in Ercilia Pepín and in Hostos a clear point of convergence: both are educators, both must be well-trained. It requires an education that is based on morality and that educate in the awarenes.Este artículo presenta tres ideas básicas en el pensamiento de la prestigiosa educadora del siglo pasado, Ercilia Pepín. La mujer, la patria, la escuela, constituyen en las ideas de esta maestra santiaguera pilares fundamentales e inseparables para lograr el avance social. La mujer y la escuela están llamadas a educarse. La patria, para su crecimiento, desarrollo y continuidad se sustenta en la obra que se fragua desde el hogar y la escuela. La mujer ha de educarse científicamente para que se asuma como un ser digno y como ciudadana de una patria que requiere de hijos que la eleven al logro de sus valores cívicos, morales y sociales más puros. La mujer y la escuela encuentran en Ercilia Pepín y en Hostos un punto de convergencia clara: ambos formadores, ambos deben estar bien formado. Se requiere de una educación que se fundamente en la moral y que eduque en la conciencia.
