dc.description.abstractThis paper presents a reflection on the current Mexican situation regarding the practice of reading and consuming published products. It examines the preferences people have toward magazines, newspapers and books. From this, it establishes the relationship between consumption and reading in order to understand the present situation of publishing consumption in the Metropolitan Zone of Guadalajara. In this paper, descriptive research with a non-experimental, field design was developed; an instrument was designed to collect information about consumer habits and publishing knowledge in the MZG and administered to a sample of 491 people. Results indicated that reading is not very predominant compared to other leisure activities. In terms of preference for the published project, it was discovered that people from the MZG prefer to read magazines and newspapers instead of books, and that the price of the latter is a determining factor in their acquisition. Regarding names of publishers, very negative results were derived, since publishing companies are not remembered by those interviewed.
