Evaluar la utilidad de la matriz hemostática (MH) en el lecho hepático sangrante en pacientes sometidos a colecistectomía laparoscópica (CL) en el Servicio de Cirugía I del Hospital Universitario de Caracas durante el periodo de junio-octubre de 2011. Métodos: se realizo un ensayo clínico controlado, donde se incluyeron doce pacientes; la muestra se dividió en dos grupos en forma aleatoria, en el grupo 1 se aplico la MH, en el grupo 2 se aplico la coagulación con dispositivo monopolar (CM). Se comparo la cantidad de sangrado y características del gasto a través del dren abdominal, el tiempo quirúrgico y las complicaciones intra y postoperatorias entre ambos grupos. Resultados: el estudio estuvo conformado por ocho pacientes femeninas y cuatro masculinos, la edad promedio del grupo de MH fue 45 ± 8 años y para el grupo de CM fue 49 ± 15 años (p= 0,589). No hubo diferencias estadísticamente significativas entre ambos grupos en cuanto a cantidad de sangrado (p=0,525), gasto a través del dren abdominal a las 24 y 48 horas del postoperatorio (p= 0,907 y p=0,828 respectivamente), características del gasto (p=0,368), tiempo quirúrgico (p=0,473) y complicaciones intra y postoperatorias. Conclusiones: tanto la MH como la CM son técnicas eficaces para el control del sangrado del lecho hepático durante la CL. Esta indicado realizar estudios prospectivos aleatorizados multicéntricos.to evaluate the utility of the hemostatic matrix (HM) on the bleeding liver bed in patients on who a laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) have been performed at the surgery division number 1 of the Caracas University Hospital, during June to October 2011. Methods: to collect the data it’s been performed a clinical controlled trial of twelve patients. They were randomly divided in two groups. For group number 1 we performed the surgical procedure and used the EM and in group number 2 we did the conventional coagulation with the unipolar system (UC). We compared the quantity of the bleeding, the characteristics of the fluids that came out of the abdominal drain, the surgical time and the intra and post operatory complications on each case. Results: we studied 8 female and 4 male patients. The age range between the group of the HM was 45±8 years and for the other group (UC) was 49±15 (p= 0,589). There weren’t any differences statistically significant in the comparison of the bleeding (p=0,525), quantity of liquids of the abdominal drainage at 24 hour and 48 hour of post operatory (p= 0,907p= 0,828), physical characteristics of the fluids (p= 0,368) surgical time (p= 473) and intra and post operatory complications, on each group of study. Conclusion: each method (HM or UC) is efficient in the hemostatic control when bleeding of the liver bed during the LC. It is our recommendation to keep doing prospective random multicenter studies.
