Efecto de la temperatura en austenización simple y doble del tratamiento térmico convencional del acero para herramientas AISI D2 sobre la microestructura, dureza y tenacidad

Se estudió el efecto de la temperatura sobre la microestructura, la dureza y tenacidad en la
entalla con muesca en U del acero AISI D2 tratado térmicamente en ciclos térmicos
correspondientes a Austenización Simple a 850°C, 950°C y 1100°C y Doble Austenización
a 850-850°C, 850-950°C, 850-1100°C, 950-850°C, 950-950°C, 950-1100°C, 1100-850°C,
1100-950°C y 1100-1100°C. Se prepararon probetas prismáticas de 0.6 x 0.6 x 5.5 cm que
fueron tratadas térmicamente en un Dilatómetro Serie L75 Premium, el control de las
temperaturas y las velocidades de enfriamiento del ciclo térmico se realizó mediante el
software del dilatómetro. Posteriormente se prepararon las probetas bajo la norma ASTM E-
23 para el ensayo Charpy con muesca en U y donde se midieron la dureza en HV20 bajo la
norma ASTM E 92. Bajo la norma ASTM E-93 se prepararon probetas para análisis
metalográfico y se determinó el tamaño de grano haciendo uso de microscopia óptica en una
primera etapa se determinó una malla representativa de las áreas del grano metálico con el
software CorelDRAW x7, posteriormente se determinó las áreas mediante Imagen Pro Plus
en función a la escala de la fotomicrografía. Se ajustaron las áreas a un modelo de Lognormal
con el software Origin 2018 determinando así la distribución normal de las áreas y
el diámetro de grano ASTM, de acuerdo a la norma ASTM E-112. Los resultados
determinaron que la temperatura de austenización simple incrementó la dureza
significativamente de 222.25 HV20 (850°C) a 302.13 HV20 (1100°C) en doble
austenización, los valores se elevaron de 213.5 HV20 (850-850°C) a 405.63 HV20 (1100-
1100°C) determinando un efecto significativo en la temperatura de primera temperatura de
austenización. La tenacidad a la entalla KVC (J/cm2) con muesca en U disminuyó a medida
que se incrementó la temperatura en austenización simple y doble austenización, para la
Simple disminuye de 12.43 J/cm2 a 5.67 J/cm2 y para la doble se tienen los resultados de hasta 14.66
J/cm2 como máximo y de 4.71 J/cm2 como mínimo. Por otro lado se confirmó el incremento
de la disolución de carburos aumentando el número de grano ASTM. El tratamiento de doble
austenización permitió la disolución de carburos de la aleación durante el primer tratamiento,
mientras que la segunda austenización a bajas temperaturas dio un grano más fino de la
austenita, aumentando el número ASTM porque los carburos no disueltos proporcionan
abundantes sitios de nucleación para la austenita y durante el segundo tratamiento de
austenización promueve el tamaño de grano más fino.
