Resumen
To understand the socio-economic development of a country, it is necessary to analyze the models that were implemented in past decades, one of which is the Industrialization by Import Substitution (ISI) model that was installed in many countries of the Latin region, influencing the economy of that time. The ISI was a model that was present in Latin America, including Ecuador, from the 30s to the beginning of the 80s marking the countries of the region. The model was implemented with the intention of reducing imports of products to develop the local industry so that it is responsible for supplying the domestic market as well as seeking to export to markets that could demand these goods or services, strengthening the local industry on the large international corporations. The present investigation has as general objective to elaborate an analysis of the ISI model and its impact in the Ecuadorian economy period 1970-1980. The methodology used will be the descriptive one for which the bibliographic review technique present in: scientific journals, books, internet was used to be able to elaborate an impartial analysis of the investigation. The purpose of this paper will be to establish the advantages and disadvantages of the ISI model in Ecuador, developing an analysis that explains the reasons for its implementation and its completion, a situation that will help understand the evolution of the Ecuadorian economy.
