Based on the studies of the psychology of learning the teachers have sought to understand how cognitive development is produced and thus to be able to design strategies that allow to fulfill their commitment to teach, being mathematics one of the areas that most Inconvenience has spawned. This investigative work seeks to substantiate the seriation as a mental ability to develop logical-mathematical thinking in children from 7 to 12 years, and based on the pedagogy of Mary Montessori propose activities that promote the development of this logical operation. The methodology used is part of a bibliographical review of articles from the last 5 years related to the theory of Jean Piaget, which have been obtained in indexed journals. The results of the research justify the importance of the seriation for the development of logical-mathematical thinking and the implementation of didactic materials manipulative for that purpose. It concludes by contrasting the theories of Vygotsky and Bruner with regard to Piaget's contributions, in order to reach a consensus on the validity that all these authors give to the manipulative materials, and that by their inclusion in the stage of concrete operations Allow in the students to encourage the seriation and in its defect a logical thought.
