The present work consisted of describe the process of assessment, diagnosis, and treatment plan for a patient of 10 years that presents characteristics of the oppositional defiant disorder. Oppositional defiant disorder characterized by a persistent pattern of moodiness or irritability, which discusses or presents challenging behaviors and/or vengeful toward parents, peers and authority figures. Several studies indicate that this disorder when it is not taken care of can evolve to a behavior problem as the disorder, the generation of an antisocial personality disorder or other psychological disorders. With regard to the prevalence of this disorder ranges from 2.6% to 11 % and is more common in men than in women. Over the course of the trial will find basic concepts about the possible causes, models underpinning the development of the disorder and instruments used for correct diagnosis. Performed the evaluation process with the child, parents and teachers through interviews, questionnaires, with the results obtained showed that the child has Oppositional Defiant Disorder, low family satisfaction, also indicate inconsistencies in the parenting styles of parents which generated the increase and maintenance of the disruptive. From the above details the most effective psychotherapeutic intervention from the cognitive behavioral approach according to scientific literature proving to be training in parenting practices, while for the minor is implemented training in social skills and finally to the teacher develops strategies for the practice of rules in the living room.
