Postoperative complications are frequent events that occur in the expected course of a surgical evolution represents focal or systemic reaction. There are studies in which it is stated that out of 100 users who have undergone surgery 15 were postoperatively infected and of these only 30 are evident in the patient's discharge, likewise the literature indicates that of 384 wound infections, 216 (56%) are evident in the discharge, 93 (43%) at re-entry, 73 (34%) through interview and 23 (11%) in follow-up. A descriptive qualitative research on the most frequent postoperative complications and the important intervention of the nursing professional in the recognition and prevention of risk factors of a complication is elaborated. Therefore, the need to establish the process of nursing care in postsurgical complications in exploratory laparotomy, establishing care plans aimed at improving the patient's health situation through supported scientific-based activities in the act of nursing.
