This document has been prepared with the purpose of designing a building, essential type, in the city of Machala. It is a four-level structure with columns, beams and nerves of steel, a deck-type slab and metal stairs. The first step will be to define the spectrum of accelerations; with other acquired data that will be introduced in a commercial program of structural analysis, the earthquakes will be representing static and dynamic seism, the vibration modes and the fundamental period, with which we will draw conclusions regarding torsion and other characteristics of seismic behavior. One of the control factors is the story drift, which was reviewed and adjusted with the consideration of avoiding excessive damage to the building according to the limit in the Regulations. Since the maximum drift on the second floor was two percent allowed, structural walls were installed to stiffen the building. Three of them were placed. This strategy was enough to change to an optimal scenario. The width-thickness ratio is essential in steel profiles, since what is sought is to avoid buckling and / or crushing failures. Internal efforts are analyzed to know their most critical values and to reinforce sections if necessary. Finally, with the respective combinations we obtain the reaction of the most demanding base to be able to categorize the structure and grant the data to the foundation specialist in order to make the respective explorations required by the regulations
