Resumen
The Banana (Musa spp.) is one of the most important fruits mainly in human consumption. Ecuador is the largest banana exporter in the world. Considering the banana as one of the products with greater agricultural production. Presents several pests such as fungi, insects and nematodes, which cause yield losses of up to 75%. The nematodes by its microscopic in size usually spend unnoticed, causing great impact in tropical and subtropical regions. Cause damage to the root system causing a delay in the development of the plant, prolongs fruiting, decreases the weight of the bunch and productive life. On the other hand, the banana weevil Cosmopolites sordidus (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), is one of the main limiting for the production of bananas, causes damage to the root and the base of the pseudostem, drilling holes where oviposit females, these larvae bore into the corm and pseudostem causing a loss of performance up to 100 %. There are several methods of control, including biological control, since currently the trend of agriculture is routed to a sustainable management and sustainable, in this sense, you can highlight the biocontrol as Beauveria bassiana. Being these entomopathogenic fungi biocontrol agents very respectful with the environment and show great potential for control of some pest species of the order Coleoptera. In fact, these organisms have been extensively investigated, as agents of biological control of insect pests in attempts to improve the sustainability of crop protection.
