Obstruction is a gastrointestinal disease caused by blockage of intestinal transit, which consists in the interruption that can be complete or incomplete of a portion of the intestine, this condition occurs at any stage of life, varies according At the age, being more frequent in people between 40 to 50 years approximately, however, from the 65 years this pathology affects in a 80% the small intestine and colon. The clinical picture is mainly characterized by cramped abdominal pain that begins in the region of the right flank, progressively increases to the right iliac fossa and radiates to left iliac fossa, in most cases tends to be more intense the more High is the obstruction increasing its symptomatology causing vomiting, obstipation, absence of gas emission and abdominal distension, its diagnosis is based on a rigorous clinical inspection accompanied by an interrogation to the patient and relatives in search of Information about the disease. The risk factors established for intestinal obstruction are gastrointestinal disturbances, a history of previous surgeries, momentum resection, penetrating abdominal trauma, previous episodes of acute intestinal obstruction and open surgery. The advances in the different diagnostic methods and the criteria for deciding the treatment of intestinal obstruction have managed to reduce their morbidity and mortality, with surgery being the treatment of choice where the abdominal incision will remove a section of the intestine; this procedure is performed with a high success, not forgetting the importance of nursing professional care. The present study analyses the case of intestinal obstruction in male patient of 69 years of age with a history of diabetes mellitus dependent insulin, attended in the General Hospital of Machala (IESS) in the year 2018 by an analysis of the table Clinical of patient with intestinal obstruction, the information was obtained by means of a request of permission directed to the Coordinator of teaching of the General Hospital of Machala (IESS).
