The main objective of this paper is to analyze the contribution of the non-traditional fruit and fruit sector to the generation of employment, production and, more importantly, sales abroad. It should be noted that this productive sector is articulated under the external categorization of non-traditional exports, due to its relative new participation in the commercial aggregate of Ecuador. For which, it will begin knowing what are the main fruits that are produced in the country, main destination and the percentage of export per fruit. Similarly, we sought to analyze the participation of non-traditional fruit production and its impact on total sales to the rest of the world, describing the main destinations and level of generation of foreign currency. The cultivation of non-traditional fruits is a sustainable and profitable alternative for Ecuadorian agricultural producers, since each time these products increase their demand in international markets. However, it should be considered that foreign consumers increasingly become more demanding in matters of safety and that it is an organic product of excellent quality. The production of fruits in Ecuador are characterized by their quality, texture and flavor, due to the diversity of climates and soils that count the country, which makes them a very appealing product due to having essential qualities that provide the necessary nutrients for a healthy diet. The main objective of this research was to analyze the exports of non-traditional Ecuadorian fruits during the period 2013-2017, for which a bibliographic review methodology was used in scientific journals and official pages that provide information on the subject in study. Therefore, it is transcendental considering that this sector has had a representative growth in the demand in the markets of both the United Arab Emirates and the market of Hong Kong, China, which represents an impulse for the Ecuadorian producers in cultivating this type of fruits that have great potential in international markets. In Ecuador, this sector has represented a large part of its exports thanks to the boosting of exports, but mainly fruits such as pitahaya, pineapple, mango and avocado, according to statistics these fruits have had a progressive increase in export figures , presenting an encouraging scenario for farmers who are focused on increasing the production of these fruits. The non-traditional fruit sector has gained an important space in the markets worldwide because it is characterized by the nutritional properties, quality, taste and texture that make them unique and exclusive, Ecuador has generated an export model that through the change of the productive matrix is intended to promote the cultivation of new fruits in order to diversify the exportable supply of non-traditional fruits and thus the agricultural sector achieve a sustainable economic development. Within the exportable offer of Ecuador is a variety of non-traditional fruits both in their natural state and its derivatives such as: jams, sweets, jams, tailings among other products that are well received by consumers in international markets, among the main ones fruits are the tropical ones that have gained market in different countries worldwide despite the requirements that are demanded in terms of quality and safety.
