BACKGROUND:
According to UNAIDS statistics and the projections of the international organization on the increase of HIV / AIDS, estimated that in Ecuador more than 29,000 people who were HIV carriers at the end of 2015 and between 1000 and 3000 died of AIDS. (1)
OBJECTIVE: To analyze the knowledge, beliefs, attitudes and sexual practices related to HIV / AIDS, in the Uyuntza Community. Morona Santiago 2017.
METHODOLOGY: Phenomenological qualitative study the study population was the members of the Uyuntza Juaruar community, the sample was chosen 7 mixed participants between 18 and 50 years of age, men and women with active sexual life, a focus group was carried out applying a semi-structured survey, the data was recorded, transcribed in Word and then processed in the Atlas-Ti software.
RESULTS
The age of initiation of sexual relations is early, thirteen years. Poverty, low economic and academic level in the community are limiting to acquire knowledge. The source from which information is acquired is the talks in the Health sub-centers, which, according to the residents, are insufficient in terms of time and quality. Prostitution is a permanent source of possible HIV / AIDS infection. The men in the study have more "more than forty" sexual partners. Women do not use condoms in their sexual relationships and feel more vulnerable due to possible infidelities of their partners
