Resumen
This work presents the design and construction of a Boost Power Factor Correction (PFC) Converter that reduced Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of the input current waveform from a Switched Mode Power Supply (SMPS), synchronized the input voltage and input current waveforms such that the Power Factor (PF) delivered to the mains was corrected almost to unity. This device is a power converter of size 14.2x16.3x17cm, that uses isolation elements for reducing common and differential noise, the PFC ICE3PCS01, driver 1EDI60N12AF and the CoolMOS IPZ65R045C7. The converter supplied a 1.2 kW nominal power to a resistive load and achieved 95% of efficiency for a 122 Vrms input voltage.
