Resumen
Background: menopause is a bio-socio-cultural phenomenon: in it, various factors interact: biological, psychological and social, which influence the quality of life of these women.
Objective: to evaluate the quality of life of women in menopausal transition who attend the outpatient service of the Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga, in the period of 6 months, using the MRS scale
Methodology: a quantitative cross-sectional study was carried out, in which the observational and analytical method was used, with 321 menopausal women who attended the outpatient gynecology service of the José Carrasco Arteaga Hospital. A survey was conducted and the MRS scale was applied to patients. The data collected was analyzed with SPSS 19.0. OR and Chi squared were used for the relationship between the associated factors and the quality of life.
Results: The average age of the patients was 51.23 years, the majority were married and working, from urban areas, and medium education. The MRS scale indicated that less than half of the respondents had a good quality of life, the greatest impact was on the psychological and urogenital dimensions. Women with a higher level of education and with a partner had a worse quality of life.
Conclusions: The quality of life in this population of menopausal women studied showed low values, especially from the psychological and urogenital dimensions, with a multifactorial influence on this, where sociodemographic factors, as well as their habits and the diseases they suffer, intervene.
