Resumen
The growth of Cuenca requires in response to environmental sanitation, the built of a new Wastewater Treatment Plant nearby Guangarcucho. The extension of the tanks of the plant requires a foundation able to resist the total loads (self-weight, additional load and seismic load) during its service life. The main objective of this thesis is to design the foundation for one of three anaerobic digestion tanks (worst case) that will be installed in the treatment plant. According to the Standard Penetration Tests (SPT) results and geophysical studies (seismic refraction) carried out in the area of interest, the shear strength (c and Ø) and stress-deformational (E and μ) parameters of soil deposits have been analyzed. Based on these parameters, the bearing capacity for stability and deformation of soils has been determined. To fulfill the stability requirement due to base failure, a depth of six meters is required. The stability requirement of tipping and sliding has been verified, even for the worst case. The results of immediate or elastic settlements using the elasticity theory, both manually and computationally, were 1.90 and 5.00 cm, respectively. Current regulation (NEC-SE-CM, 2015) does not contain specific requirements of admissible settlements for this type of structures, thus the compliance of deformation criterion will depend on project specifications.
