The term "Water Footprint", makes reference to the total volume of freshwater required in the production of different goods and services that a human being, a society or a country consume. When is about calculating the water footprint is necessary to considerate the several components of it such as blue, green and gray water footprint, as well as regard the virtual water of each product. However, a general method to calculate the water footprint has not been established, it is be because of the different characteristics and factors that are unique in each region. The meaning of water footprint was introduced in order to manage in a better way the freshwater resource on earth.
