Vertigo is the subjective or objective sensation of movement, which goes along with natural neurovegetative symptoms, sensory and psychological difficulties, which cause discomfort in users. Vertigo and dizziness constitute a prevalence of 20 to 30% worldwide, but the only quantity for vertigo corresponds to 3% to 7% of the world´s. Associated factors, at an advanced age it is more likely to suffer from vertigo, women is the sex with a higher affectation and being the benign paroxysmal positional vertigo the most common pathology.
Objective: Determine the prevalence of vertigo and its associated factors to users of the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital between 2015 to 2020.
Methodology: Information has been collected gathered with a data collector form of 112 medical histories from patients who have been diagnosed with vertigo in the otorhinolaryngology and audiology department. Of which, 79 medical histories that were stored and analyzed in SPSS Statics 21.
Results: From the 79, it was found that the female gender (78.48%), ages between 40 to 81 years (82.4%) and residency in urban areas (97.46%) was found they suffer from vertigo. The most important associated factors were BPPV (68.35%), also, it was found a significant connection between peripherial vertigo and how often in occurs (P = 0.000).
Conclusion: This study establishes information bases that can give rise to new investigations based on the results obtained, mainly in vulnerable groups, comorbidities and professionals in the rehabilitation of vertigo.
