Resumen
The supply of drinking water in large cities involves more complex processes depending on the source of supply; Water from deep underground sources and springs can be delivered directly to consumption, as long as they are chemically appropriate and take into account how their uptake is carried out to avoid contamination. In the case of waters from superficial shots that are not naturally drinkable, a remedial treatment that may be physical, chemical or microbiological must be made. The oldest and most universal method for boiling water disinfection, which eliminates viruses and bacteria that are transmitted through water. Filtration has been used since the 19th century to eliminate turbidity and protozoa, but is not effective in suppressing bacteria or viruses. Within the chemical methods, the treatment with chlorine is the most used in the disinfection of the water. To ensure the quality of potable water, the company ETAPA-EP, has a quality management system accredited by the ISO 9001: 2008 standard, which allows standardizing processes and records to control all processes in its potabilization plants.
