Background: In Ecuador, 23 out of every 100 deliveries are adolescents, which has profound sociodemographic and psychological implications. The adolescent's lack of preparation to face motherhood would be added, since her pregnancy was not the product of an autonomous and planned decision, which It generates mental disorders.
General Objective: To determine the impact of pregnancy on adolescent mental health, District 01D01, Cuenca 2017.
Methodology: The research carried out was quantitative, descriptive, transversal, and worked with a finite population of 70 pregnant adolescents aged 14 to 19 years. The Hamilton Test for Anxiety and Depression was applied.
Use of results: The ages of 18 to 19 years old, who live in urban areas, predominated. 60% live with their partner, 31% with their parents and 9% with other relatives, and in free or single union, 91.4% without children. The salaries are between 200 and 799 dollars. The majority (62%) reflect mild Anxiety, 27% demonstrate Moderate Anxiety, 10% have Severe Anxiety and 1% Severe Anxiety. Regarding Depression 57% present Light Depression, in Moderate Level is 39% and in Severe Level is 4%.
Conclusions: This research showed that there is anxiety and depression in mild and light levels in most pregnant adolescents, in any case the Hamilton Test for anxiety and depression showed null values, so that attention to this vulnerable group should be a priority .
