Male´s erectile dysfunction is made invisible by patriarchal constructs witch caused by a disjoint for males towards their identity.
Objective: to describe the frequency and characteristics of male erectile dysfunction of medicine students from the University of Cuenca, 2018.
Materials and methods: quantitative, observational, analytical, of a cross-section study in which 608 students participated, 358 of the fulfilled the inclusion criteria, the statistical analysis used IBBM SPSS 15 program and Epidat 3.1. The statistical associations included Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal-Wallis test, ant Spearman´s correlation, accepting the hypothesis with a value of p <0.05
Results: the incidence of male erectile dysfunctions was 28,80% (n=103), the altered sexual disorders were 2,3% aversion to sex, 6,4% sexual underactivity, 16,4% hyperactivity, 9,5% orgasm disorders, 8,9% dyspareunia, 26% of the participants have a slight erectile dysfunction, 2,5% slight to moderate and 0,3% moderate, 64% occasional premature ejaculation, 7,8% severe premature ejaculation. The age average in 22,85 years ± 3,13, sex life beginning 17 years of age ± 2,15, number of sex partners 5 ± 4,6, student who are taking the internship 22,6% and second year 20,7%, a statistical correlation of ejaculatory function with age and year of studies, erectile function with residency, ethnicity occupation, religion, and year of studies with a value of p <0.05
Conclusions: The incidence of male´s erectile dysfunction was high and it is statistically associated witch socio-demographic variables and influenced by patriarchal constructs which directly affects male sexuality
