The present project have the aim to establish an ideal leadership profile based
on emotional intelligence for the credit union Jardín Azuayo. In order to fulfill the
objective, firstly carried out a theoretical research about cooperative
development, leadership approaches and about leadership with intelligence
emotional. The ideal leadership profile was developed in two phases: the first
one was the diagnosis to identify the current leadership style, to this purpose a
test based on Goleman's emotional intelligence model was applied, to 76
employees who currently hold leadership positions in the cooperative, the
results was obtained show that the dominant leadership style in the current
leaders is the Formative Style maintaining the Orientative style as
complementary in most cases. In the second phase, with the participation of a
sample of 185 employees, of which 108 participated in the workshops and 77
employees had an assessment of the behavior of their ideal leader, the proposal
about ideal leadership profile was built. The results obtained in the test with 72%
of the responses showed that the ideal leadership style that employees require
is a formative style, which is in turn complemented with the Orientative style
(13%) and a Democratic style (4%).
