The objective of this research was to evaluate the effect of the addition of Aloe vera extract in a cryopreservation medium on the freezing of porcine semen. We used 16 ejaculates of 4 sexually mature boars, from 1 to 3 years, adapted and maintained in a farm in the Guachapala canton, the seminal analyzes and the freezing was carried out in the laboratory of Biotechnologies of the Animal Reproduction of the University of Cuenca; The ejaculates were divided into two aliquots for the treatments: T1.- Freezing of porcine semen in diluent based on sodium citrate and egg yolk; And, T2.- Freezing of porcine semen in diluent based on sodium citrate, egg yolk plus 10% v / v of Aloe Vera in the preparation water. Post-freeze parameters were: progressive individual motility, vitality and membrane integrity (HOS Test). A completely random design was used. Statistical analysis was performed with Student's t test and Mann-Whitney U test. There were no significant differences between the treatments (P> 0.05) on the variables: motility, vitality and abnormalities; However, HOS Test showed higher percentages (P <0.05) in T2 compared to T1 (respectively: 15.54 ± 0.50% and 13.89 ± 0.65%). It is concluded that the addition of the Aloe vera extract to 10% v / v of the media preparation water produced no difference in the parameters of motility, viability; However, decreased the deleterious effects of cryopreservation on the integrity of the plasma membrane of porcine spermatozoa
