Over recent years, psychiatric disorders and chronic non communicable diseases. Such as high blood pressure and diabetes. They have generated a growing concern among organizations and public health professionals. So in the year 2008, chronic non-communicable diseases were responsible for 63% of all deaths worldwide, the depression is greater magnitude disorder within this group with 2.5%. It is a condition that affects approximately 30% of people with diabetes and 20 to 45% in patients with arterial hypertension.
Methods and Materials:
A descriptive study of transversal was performed to determine the level of depression in patients with hypertension and diabetes. For the study we consider a universe of 322 patients according to medical records Biblian Health Center, a sample of 140 patients was taken. We collect information through a data collection form and Hamilton rating scale was used to assess depression.
Expected results:
The most common age group was> 65 years with 52.1%. 62% are female. It was determined that 50.0% of patients with hypertension and diabetes had mild depression; 21.4% did not present depression, 18.6% had moderate depression, 7.9% severe depression and 2.1% had severe depression. Depression is more frequent in hypertensive patients with a percentage of 60.7%
