Given the complexity of the development of teaching - learning process, the teacher has found it necessary to rely on didactic resources that generate a better understanding of the curricular contents. On the other hand, it has been documented that the museum can be a valuable teaching resource in different learning areas. However, the role and contribution of the museum as a didactic resource for learning has been little studied. Seen from the field of general teaching, this present monographic aims to demonstrate that the museum can be used as a didactic resource in the educational process. To carry out this, it has tried to show the relationship of these two elements from a research and bibliographic analysis. In the first place, the museum and its social impact for learning are investigated, then a description of the didactic resources is made, from its definition, function and the aspects that configure it. From the analysis of the two categories a relationship is established in the educational process, where the didactic potentialities offered by the museum are described as support to the teacher for the development of skills, abilities and attitudes of the students.
