Resumen
This research thesis aims to analyze the constructive system of vaulted roof in modern works between the years 1960 and 1980, however, during the research process that period of time was extended to 1947 – 1963, so that two works were selected: La Casa La Ricarda 1949-1963 and La Casa de Berlingieri in the year 1947, both of the architect Antonio Bonet, in order to identify design criteria concerning spatial, formal, constructive and functional qualities of the vaulted system.
Antonio Bonet is a spanish architect linked to the modern movement. Le Corbusier, one of the most important representatives of the modern epoch, had a direct and notorious influence on the formation of Bonet, since he moved to Paris in 1936 to work in Le Corbusier's studio, where he projected La Casa Maison Jaoul. He also designed Pabellón del Agua, where he incorporated surrealistic ideas into the functionalist architecture of the moment, which became a distinctive trait in his forthcoming works. In the studio, he met two argentine architects: Juan Kurchan y Jorge Ferrari Hardoy, because of compatibility with their work he moved to Buenos Aires and formed Grupo Astral 5 together with his colleagues, as one of the first references to modern architecture. His catalan origins and bonds with the mediterranean spirit are present in his choice of materials and the adaptation of his works to place and climate.
Through a redrawing process of the residences of Antonio Bonet: Casa La Ricarda and Casa de Berlingieri the values of the constructive system of vaulted roof are identified; each case has in common certain constants, attributes or characteristics that distinguish these buildings of precision, rigor, economy, and universality. 1 (Ávila, Paola, 2015). La Ricarda was built in El Prat de Llobregat, Barcelona, España between the years 1949 and 1963, and it is the domicile of the family Gomis Bertrand. La Casa Berlingieri was built in Punta Ballena, Maldonado, Uruguay in the year 1947, and it was the domicile of the family Lussich. Both buildings are analyzed from the perspective of the attributes of modern architecture and the constructive system of vaulted roof to find criteria on their spatial, formal, constructive and functional qualities.
