Resumen
Disability is a situation in which various dimensions of the individual can be compromised, such as physical, psychological and social. These events create multiple developmental difficulties, which is why the person needs permanent or occasional care. However, we forget or overlook the fact that all these long-term tasks can lead to a deterioration in the caregiver's mental and physical health. For this reason, this paper analyzed the general well-being of formal caregivers of children and adolescents with disabilities since the theory of positive psychology. The approach was quantitative, with nonexperimental design and descriptive scope. It worked with 63 formal caregivers from three institutions, who were asked the sociodemographic data sheet and the PERMA Profile Adaptation. Results show that the overall well-being of formal caregivers had high scores with an average of 8.51 and standard deviation of .83. Sociodemographic variables emphasize that most were women, teachers and were placed in the working time range of four to nine years. It is concluded that the welfare factor that prevailed in most participants was the one of purpose, which means that a large part of the formal caregivers are committed to their work, have a meaning for their lives and feel fulfilled.
