Resumen
The electrical substation Cumbartaza, belonging to the Empresa Eléctrica Regional del Sur S.A., allows its control and remote monitoring through a SCADA system, using the industrial communication protocol DNP3.0.An improvement in electrical protection equipment is required in order to comply with additional protection functions, as well as obtaining oscillograph data and recording of electrical failures with time stamp.
EERSSA will carry out a modernization in the Cumbaratza electrical substation, clearly oriented to the change of electrical protection relays, which must be adapted to the current available infrastructure.
The available protection relays are limited in terms of the information that can be reported. And the remote unit has the ability to communicate with other elements using the DNP3.0 protocol, which must be kept in operation.
EERSSA does not contemplate the replacement of the remote terminal unit, so the need arises to develop a study to obtain the guidelines and / or recommendations that guide the proper selection of protection equipment, improve the local communications network, and allow the use of modern communication technologies, such as the GOOSE protocol of the IEC61850 standard.
The present project, through bibliographic research and tests, presents the recommendations necessary to make adjustments in the architecture of the local network of the Cumbaratza substation, taking into account the functionality of mixed communication protocols DNP3.0 and GOOSE. This allows maintaining the continuity in the tele-commanded operation of the station and incorporating the bar protection, with the use of GOOSE messaging.
