The present study evaluated the levels of attention and memory in patients with substance use disorder in three centers that provide treatment to this problem. In turn, he analyzed the levels of attention and memory according to the time of consumption and the type of drug of preference. Method and subjects: the neuropsychological battery NEUROPSI: ATTENTION AND MEMORY was administered to 60 participants (men) with substance use disorder in internment condition. Results: the presence of cognitive alterations was observed in both domains. Working memory is preserved in most of the population. Participants who consumed cocaine base paste (alone or in combination with other substances) had the highest deficit percentage. Conclusion: The results indicate that cognitive impairment in the levels of attention and memory occur in subjects with substance use disorder with memory being the most affected function. No significant relationship between consumption time and cognitive damage was observed.
