Resumen
This research work analyzes the historical, social and conceptual elements that contributed to the emergence of contemporary art in Guayaquil, and the parallel development of my artistic work around geometric abstraction.
The starting point will be the history of Western and Latin American art; starting from the geometric abstraction -one of the most representative movements of the so-called artistic avant-gardes of the s. XX- to make an artistic work that establishes dialogues between past and present, taking into account the manifestos and thought of modernity as part of the contemporary task.
Problems such as the involvement of these ideas (specifically my aesthetic-creative work), the artistic experience in relation to the relevance of abstract painting and the possibilities it presents in the face of the urgency of a paradigm shift; the Latin American context itself (with special attention to the Brazilian Anthropophagic Movement of the second decade of the last century) and a wide spectrum of other local artistic manifestations with regard to their inquiries about acculturation and hybridity.
The investigation becomes a random search that plays with the chance of the encounter with the object, its collection and modification, but also with the history and the concept. The proposal on the plane of the artistic uses the austerity of the neoconcrete to create a sculptural object, which loses its immediate meaning to be located in another time and space, in this case the local reality and the XXI century.
