Background: Research is an achievement and a need, so that educational institutions should encourage the development and research to contribute to scientific progress conglomerate. This paper aims to learn your tendencies and establish a baseline for future research.
Objective: To determine trends in research work degree at the School of Medicine at the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the University of Cuenca.
Methodology: Quantitative descriptive observational study, the research presented in the undergraduate School of Medicine, University of Basin 2007-2012 were reviewed, applied inclusion criteria, we collected data using a form; information is validated, processed and tabulated data in SPSS. The data analysis was made using descriptive statistics and the results are presented.
Results: 298 papers were identified titling, most production was in 2009 with 30.2% l; was 60.7% by 3 authors. The main research site was the Hospital with 47%; quantitative research represent 97.7%. 98.7% of cases are observational; descriptive studies accounted for 81.44%; specialties related jobs accounted for 44% and 99.3% of the works meet the standards of Vancouver.
Conclusions: Work degrees at the School of Medicine are mostly descriptive, subtracting quality undergraduate these conditions and the lack of production and publication of studies at national and international level.
