BACKGROUND: with the upbringing, parents guide the behavior of their children according to what they consider appropriate, using affective and communicative dimensions. However, there are factors that affect your parent roll.
GENERAL OBJECTIVE: determine parenting styles in children of single-parent and two-parent families, Parish ZHUD 2019.
METHODOLOGY: quantitative descriptive research, with a finite universe of 150 parents of the Víctor Hugo Abad Muñoz Educational Unit, the structured interview research method, the survey technique, the instrument used was PCRI Parenting; used by Gerard, 1994, modified by the authors.
RESULTS: according to the sociodemographic conditions of the parents, 4.67% were male and 95.33% were female. 28.67% in ages from 28 to 37 years. 64% from the Cañar. 38.67% reside in Zhud. 62% are high school graduates. 35.33% are married. 54.67% are two-parent families, 38% single-parent families and 33% single-parent Binuclear families. The single-parent family in the satisfaction of the upbringing, 46% find it difficult to educate their child. The two-parent family 47% wonder if they make the right decisions at the time of moving their child forward. The single-parent family, communication 55% have had problems with their children.
CONCLUSIONS: the behaviors in both parenting styles are similar and no important differences are found. Beyond the structural differences of the families, it is the communication, the relationships of affectivity and the understanding the most important factors for the development of the children
