Background: The evaluation of the development in the early childhood, allows to determine the state of the psychomotor development of the boys and girls of a certain sector or age.
Every child under the age of five should be evaluated, with this we guarantee an optimal development in the future, to detect early possible delays in psychomotor development.
Objective: Determine the psychomotor development of the children who attend the Buen Vivir Children's Centers of the Hermano Miguel parish.
Methodology: Descriptive, prospective, cross-sectional study in quantitative modality, determined Psychomotor Development by applying the scale of psychomotor development Brunet Lezine Revised version relating to age, gender, type of caregiver, instruction of the caregiver and identified the area of vulnerability. The sample was equivalent to the universe: 89 boys and girls aged 12 to 48 months who attend the Buen Vivir Children's Centers of the Hermano Miguel Parish of Cuenca, 2017. By informed consent, the type of caregiver and level was determined training; for the analysis and tabulation of the data we used: SPSS 22.0; In the tables according to the variables, chi-square was used, with a value of p <0.05 for statistical significance.
Results: 52.8% of the population was male, the prevalence of psychomotor retardation was 2.2% of the total population. The most vulnerable area was: Language 60.4%.
