Prácticas profesionales de atención pre hospitalaria, en el abordaje de la violencia de género, Quito 2018-2019

Abstract

The first response care to victims of gender violence is carried out through the intervention, protocols and clinical guidelines as part of their professional practices in prehospital care, people who perform this intervention can be paramedics, doctors, ambulance drivers or other professionals related to health who perform the intervention at the emergency site.

In front of this intervention, it is possible to carry out an assertive attention or, on the contrary, to victimize the person who has experienced a traumatic event caused by the act of violence.

The present objective was to carry out an analytical study of the practices with which these professionals perform the first care, as well as propose a psychological first aid protocol for the care in crisis of these victims.

It was an analytical - descriptive, cross-sectional study, with quantitative design, involving 152 professionals from zone 9 of the Ministry of Public Health, of both sexes, who hold positions as pre-hospital care personnel.

The instruments used were the questionnaires: "Knowledge, Opinions and Barriers for the Infra Detection in Health Professionals" and the Questionnaire "Opinions and Beliefs of Professionals" which was validated for its use, through experts in the subject forming a team multidisciplinary for such validation.

The results obtained indicate that 75.5% of the professionals do not have adequate practices against gender violence, more than 50% of the items reveal the need for training in crisis care and the need for the implementation of protocols to attend to victims of gender violence in emergencies, no statistically significant associations were found among the proposed variables.
