Nowadays where the universality of human rights has become one of the most important topics to debate, especially
which that involves the protection and well-being of children and adolescents. The concept “inclusion”
is refer to no discrimination of people with special needs both cultural end ethnics, as well as physic and mental
health; in this context the special school “San Juan de Jerusalén” located on Cuenca city, plays an important role
into the inclusive education, harbor both students with special needs, especially physical and mental, as well as
those who do not suffer them. Despite the goodness and benefits of the program and people who working on
it, physical and diverse environments are not the best for students trying to develop both, their academic and
recreational activities. According to what is written above, the present thesis project, first, analyze completely the
current situation of the scholar institution, by a special study which contains: professor´s injuries, planimetric and
photographic surveys, and physical, material and furniture characteristic determination. Finally, by using bibliography
and methods exposed before, a redesign of both internal and external spaces of the institution is established,
applying a modern and contemporaneous design considering chromatic, illumination, and ergonomic. All
of this towards to improve the development and learning of children, with or without special needs.
