Resumen
The present work aims to contribute to the work done by the professionals in “Hagar Miguel León”, a residential care facility for children and adolescents (CA) which relies on protective measures ordered by the judges of the Family, Woman, Child and Adolescent legal departments, thereby demonstrating that institutional care is a legal measure through which the children and adolescents, who for various reasons related to the violation of rights by their parents or caregivers, are removed from their family environment, in order to be placed in an institution approved by the MIES, who provides care services. It is important to mention that this measure is of an exceptional and temporary nature, during which time the institution's technical team initiates a Comprehensive Family Project to make viable a possible reintroduction of the fostered children and adolescents into the family, so that the children and adolescents can return to his/her nuclear family, provided that the causes that led to the institutionalization have been overcome. Unfortunately, it is not always possible to make a reintroduction back into the family, since there are family systems whose functioning is closely tied to preceding generations, repeating negative transgenerational patterns and thus rendering difficult a positive response to generate modifications to the plans, recommended by the multidisciplinary team, to benefit the child, even if this means that the fostered children and adolescents is not returned to the home.
