Resumen
The study parts from a review of several child development assessment instruments, arriving to the description of the so-called Harmonic Development Scale (EDA) and the process of adaptation of measuring instruments. All of this, as a fundamental reference to the fulfillment of the general objective, which is to adapt this instrument linguistically to the urban context of Cuenca, the Harmonic Development Scale for children from 0 to 5 years old. The research requires a quantitative approach with a non-experimental design and an exploratory scope. The linguistic adaptation of the scale involved the following: review (lexical-semantic) by the authors and experts, consolidation and synthesis of data, content validation (W of Kendall and V of Aiken), application of the pilot test and calculation of the reliability index (Alpha of Cronbach). In this, participated 7 teachers from the Faculty of Psychology and 1 teacher from the Spanish Language and Literature of Faculty of Philosophy; there were also 45 children between 0 and 5 years of age, who belong to 5 institutions of centers of public attention of the urban sector of Cuenca. Finally, the results emitted a significant concordance rank in the agreement between the judges towards the content of the scale, deducting that the adapted instrument differs partially from the original version. Also, the percentage achieved in the reliability analysis indicated that the instrument in its adapted version is valid and additionally a high level of assessment-acceptance of it was distinguished
