Resumen
In adobe construction system has been used by different cultures throughout history, in the case of Ecuador and more specifically in the south of this country, pre-Hispanic natives used the land (adobe and “bahareque”) as predominant material to build their homes, however, currently these traditional construction practices have fallen into disuse due to the introduction of new techniques that have led to a sub-appreciation and discrediting of these systems.
From this problem arises interest in revaluing construction system with adobe because of its advantages as a constructive system, in addition land - main input for the elaboration of the blocks - is also easy to obtain and does not require specialized extraction for labor.
Hydraulic pressing is used to achieve raw Earth parts that improve the mechanical characteristics of the material. Through tests for its stabilization with vegetable fibers alternatives to those that have been used.
In addition, research experiences with stabilizers that meet ecological characteristics and less environmental impact in production. The choice of the optimal stabilizer using a matrix based on weighted parameters that result which best meets the objectives of the research. The production of experimental blocks has been subjected to studies physical-mechanical using international standards of construction on land. It concludes with an architectural proposal that meets the criterion of quake resistance for adobe buildings.
