Resumen
Background: Feeding difficulties may rise between 20 to 25% in schoolers. There is a positive association among children’s BMI Z score and CEBQ (Children Eating Behaviour Questionnaire, developed by Wardle in 2001) subscales score.
Objectives: To determine feeding difficulties prevalence in 5 to 9 year old children and its association with their nutritional status.
Methods and techniques: An observational prevalence study was performed , children between 5 to 9 year old, a random selection was performed then children who attended regularly to school and those whose parents accepted the informed consent to be part of the study were included.
Results: Feeding difficulties prevalence was 64% (CI 95%: 59-69%), 27,6% of children were overweight, 14,6% were obese and 4.5% had malnutrition. No association between feeding difficulties and nutritional status was found (p >0,05).
Conclusions: Feeding difficulties, obesity and overwight’s prevalence was similar compared to other studies, nevertheless no association between feeding difficulties and nutritional status was found
