BACKGROUND: Chronic End-Stage Renal Disease (CRF) or Chronic Renal Failure (CRF) together with Diabetes mellitus are included in the group of chronic noncommunicable diseases, presenting a sustained growth of its prevalence and incidence in the last decades.
OBJECTIVE: To determine the prevalence of Type 2 Diabetes mellitus in patients with Chronic Renal Insufficiency and associated factors of the Nephrology service of the Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso in the period January 2014 - December 2016.
METODOLOGY: analytic24A cross-sectional study will be carried out in the area of external consultation nephrology of the Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso, through the application of a data collection form, based on the clinical records of patients diagnosed with Chronic Renal Insufficiency who meet the Inclusion criteria during 2014-2016, collecting data through a form. For the tabulation, the statistical package SPSS version 19.0 in Spanish, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word will be used. We will seek to determine the frequency of diabetes in renal patients, and among others the relationship of the associated factors studied hypertension, smoking and dyslipidemias; the results will be presented in tables according to the objectives set. The corresponding analysis will be done through inferential analytical statistics.
RESULTS: 5the prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus was esIn the studied population of 365 patients with chronic renal failure, 46.64% are patients with DM2 who suffer from chronic kidney disease. In our study, we demonstrated that hypertension and dyslipidemia are associated with the presentation of CRF in patients with DM2; whereas smoking had no association in the presentation of CKD in patients with this condition
