Resumen
Today numerical modeling is the key to the design of hydraulic works. Well, simulations are cheaper and they allow a sensitivity analysis. Also, it is possible to analyze more complex systems with fewer assumptions and project different scenarios with their possible effects of future action. Numerical modeling is also an efficient alternative that simplifies the calculation of natural problems on large scale such as the problems of sediment accumulation. The transportation of sediments with particles of uniform diameter constitutes a big question when the study area includes channels of steep slopes. The objective of this project is the numerical validation of the experiments carried out in the laboratory for sediment transport processes applied on high slopes (3% -5%) and particles of uniform diameter and shape. The methodology used for the development of this project consists of the application of a numerical model (Flow 3D) for the validation of laboratory experiments. The results to be obtained are flow parameters that are comparable with the measured in the laboratory such as: speed and draughts and sediment transport rates. Numerical modeling allows us to perform a complete evaluation of hydraulic processes that includes experiments in laboratory, mathematical models such as theory and numerical models for the solution of governing equations.
