Resumen
The objective of this investigation was to evaluate the anxiolytic activity of the hydroalcoholic extract of Melissa leaves (Melissa officinalis) in mice (Mus musculus). The plant material was collected and conditioned. The extract was obtained by maceration of 50 g of dry plant and 500 mL of 70% ethanol and concentrated. The quality control of the dry drug and the concentrated extract was carried out, the secondary metabolites present through phytochemical screening were identified. For the evaluation of the anxiolytic activity, 25 female mice with an approximate weight of 25-30 g were used and, as a treatment, the extract was administered at concentrations of 25, 100 and 200 mg/Kg, 15% propylene glycol (white) and Clonazepam (positive control). The unconditional response models used were: Light-dark room (CCO), Labyrinth high cross (LCE) and open field (CA). The data was recorded with a D-View Cam camera (D-Link), and processed in two programs: ITOPI for the fourth light-dark equipment and elevated cross labyrinth and for the open field the EMIS program. The results were analyzed in the IBM SPSS Statistics 25 program concluding that the doses that presented significant anxiolytic activity were 100 and 200 mg / Kg, these concentrations do not affect the motor activity of the mice. It is recommended to continue with toxicity studies for Melissa officinalis and thus guarantee its use.
