Resumen
A wastewater treatment system was designed for San Jacinto Tannery, belonging to the Picaihua Canton Ambato province of Tungurahua province, since the wastewater generated in the production plant is discharged directly to the sewer system or said city without any prior treatment. First proceeded to take the flow through the volumetric method for 1 hour because there is no continuous production, established an average flow rate or 0.31 L/s for wastewater from Pelambre and 0.18 L/s for water of Tanning A complex sampling was carried out, different samples were taken directly from the production drum, both for Pelambre and for Tanning, to take it to the physical and chemical characterization. We observed in the water or Pelambre there were high parameters such as; Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD5), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) and Sulphides; instead, in the tanning water, high parameters were: Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD5), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Hexavalent Chromium CrVI, Total Chromium, Subsequently, knowing the initial values and obtaining the biodegradability index, we proceeded to give an adequate treatment, which consists of a physical chemical treatment such as: coagulation and sedimentation, with which we obtained as a result of removal for the Pelambre water: 93.51% of sulfides, 93,15% of BOD and 94,90% of COD; For the Tanning process, we observed 51,96% of BOD5,59,68% OF cod, 94,11% of Total Chromium. Reaching this way decrease of the parameters that TULSMA demands, Table 8: General Norms for discharge of effluents to the system of sewerage, than we can say that the system of treatment of residual waters is apt to achieve a discharge of treated water to racking without any problem.
