Resumen
The following investigation's objective was to design a typographic source based on the
morphology of the plant scientifically named Dioscorea Trifida, located in the Morona canton.
This typography provides a unique identity thanks to the unique elements used. For the
development of the typographic source first, a morphological analysis of the plant was taken into
account, in which were used experimentation sheets, with which a choice of homogeneous
morphologies was made. Based on the morphologies chosen several sketches were made and with
that achieve a uniformity in each typography. The digitization of them was done using a vector
creation program and defining the typography measurements. A typographic box based on the
proportional tertiary harmonic system was made since it allows the greatest fluidity in terms of
typography creation, the box was divided into 5 vertically established sections: descending height,
base line, height "X", uppercase height and height ascending. The horizontal width of the box
varies according to the type of the alphabet. For the creation of the typographic source, the Type
Tool program was used in its version number 3, which offers a simple template and facilitates the
transfer of the vector creation program to the typographic creation program. The exploitation of
the file was done in the Opentype extension, which offers a reduction in the points of the lines
and helps to install and testing the typographic source. Due to its pronounced lines, the use of this
typographic source should be done in graphic pieces such as Corporate Visual Identity, Fences,
Posters, Catalogs, and Brochures.
