Resumen
The purpose of the current research was to validate the “open field” electronic measurement equipment to evaluate the in vivo anxiolytic activity in rats (Rattus norvegicus) and mice (Mus musculus). The (OF) open field model is the most used to evaluate the anxiolytic activity, it includes manual and visual methods where the most significant events are documented during each trial, or some electronic equipment having this function are also used; but the last option causes a high cost for the analyst. For the validation of the “open field” electronic equipment, it was necessary to design, elaborate and implement it by the professors and students from FIE; the ones who used images processing to provide automated results. For the valuation of the electronic equipment, it was necessary to use five groups of rats and mice under different environmental conditions such as stressed, not stressed, medicine administration Clonazepam (0,5mg/Kg) and Propilenglicol at 15% in a period of 45 days for each animal species. The results obtained with the application were statistically similar to the data provided by the observers who carried out the process in a manual and visual way, this proved that the software offers truthful results in a short time and reduces human failures significantly.
