Resumen
In the present project, the control and supervision of books were carried out through radio frequency identification (RFID) and the internet of things in the Central Library of the Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo (ESPOCH). The selection of the elements that make up the network is developed based on the most important characteristics according to the requirements. The prototype has 5 modules: the registration module to enter and store the information of each book in the database, the load module, which, through the library staff, deactivates the reader's action at the exit for preventing the control alarm belonging to the output module from sounding. The data collection module formed by the readers and the cards that establish communication when the reader activates the cards. The delivery module comes into operation when the books are deposited in the return container. Finally, the query module that allows access to the information in the database. The functionality of the prototype is based on the visualization of the information contained in the database in real time, through the mobile application designed for Android devices or from the desktop application. Through the capture with Wireshark of the packages sent from the reader and of the applications to the database, it can be defined that the capacity of access to the network from the reader is 7126789 bytes and from the queries on the part of the users of 25000000 bytes. The implementation of an RFID system turns out to be expensive, however, the use in conjunction with the internet of things gives greater applicability. It is recommended to take into account that the system requires internet access for its operation.
