Resumen
The objective of the actual titling work was to determine the congenital malformations prevalence in the Latacunga General Hospital, period 2010-2018. A descriptive study was carried out (the prevalence was determined per year), the clinical histories were reviewed in support of the neonatology area folio that registers the newborns between period from 2010 to 2018. For the analysis based on data we used the statistical software SPSS version 15. The variables study were represented according to the appropriate statistical measures. The prevalence of congenital malformations was 11.8 for each newborn. Women with more than 39 weeks of gestation had the highest percentage of malformed newborns with 59.06%. Malformed newborns were predominantly male with 54.35%. The groups with the highest percentage according to maternal occupation were domestic chores with 59.42%. The most frequent malformation group were malformations and congenital deformations of the craniofacial system, of which the cleft lip was the malformation with the highest percentage, with 17.9%. The present study, it also permits us to show that the previous investigations carried out at national and international level, where it is evident that the malformations that constitute a greater frequency of studies conducted were the harelip.
