Guía práctica de movilidad peatonal urbana para cantones tipo B – caso Guano, provincia de Chimborazo

Abstract

The proposal of a PRACTICAL GUIDE ON URBAN PEDESTRIAN MOBILITY FOR CANTONS TYPE B (municipal governments in charge of transport management) – GUANO CASE, PROVINCE OF CHIMBORAZO aims to improve and create accessible mobility for all kind of pedestrians, making it easier and providing the necessary tools for a proper transit. Surveys were conducted to the population of the canton. The information permitted not only to identify the problems of the place and the pedestrians when moving but also to take a road infrastructure inventory on the local main and secondary roads, where it was possible to identify the following problems: lack of traffic signs, accessibility and regulations for pedestrians to move safely. Therefore, a Guide on Pedestrian Mobility – it describes the guidelines as basis to implement a sustainable mobility in the canton and to solve main problems of pedestrians – was established in the proposal. This proposal intends to change the road safety culture and the social responsibility of the factors influencing the mobility; that is why, the urban planning focus mainly on the pedestrian. It is recommended that the decentralized autonomous governments with type B management implement this guide as a model to improve the safety and accessibility of pedestrian mobility in their cantons.
